Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Tilawa ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using Tilawa, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories:
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the app, including pages read, reading duration, bookmarks, reading goals, and daily streak data. This data is stored locally on your device.
Audio Data: When voice features become available (recitation tracking, voice search), your audio will be processed in real-time using your device's native speech recognition (Google SpeechRecognizer on Android, Apple Speech on iOS). Audio is processed locally and is never stored or transmitted to our servers.
Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting via Sentry. No personal identifiers are collected.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Tilawa app experience
- Track your reading and memorization progress locally on your device
- Send you local push notifications (reading reminders, streak warnings) if opted in
- Diagnose crashes and improve app stability
4. Data Storage
All user data (bookmarks, notes, reading progress, goals, and settings) is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. There is no cloud sync — your data never leaves your phone. Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat and the respective app stores (Google Play, App Store).
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat: Subscription management and purchase validation
- Sentry: Crash reporting and error tracking (anonymized)
- EveryAyah.com: Audio streaming for Quran recitation playback
- Quran.com API: Translation and tajweed data downloads
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We do not use advertising SDKs or tracking cookies in the app.
6. Data Security
Your data is stored securely on your device using the platform's native security measures. Network communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption. We do not store passwords or sensitive credentials — authentication (when available) uses secure token-based systems.
7. Children's Privacy
Tilawa is suitable for users of all ages, including children learning Quran. Since all data is stored locally on-device and we do not collect personal information, no special parental consent is required.
8. Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Delete all app data by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app
- Export your reading progress and bookmarks (feature planned)
- Control notifications through your device's system settings
- Manage subscription through Google Play or App Store
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app. Your continued use of Tilawa after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
